Party Night!

Saturday 28th December 2013

A calm and sunny day. Took the opportunity to do my “Belle” impersonation and stroll around glorious Llandudno saying “Bore Da!” to each and every tradesperson in the locality. Well, not quite, but you get the idea! Syocked up on Bara Brith which to the uninitiated is a scrummy Welsh cake/bread which you can slice and eat with or without Welsh butter!

I will most certainly miss my mornings, and, lets face it- evenings around the town. The individual shops and friendly people. The many dogs on the prom and in the pubs. Oh and those lovely old pubs- The Albert and the King’s Head in particular, along with the Cottage Loaf. Most of all I will miss my lovely retreat- The “Can Y Bae” Hotel and the kindness of Dave and Michael who run it. Thanks so much guys!

Both shows were packed, and hugely responsive. My throat is suffering from the cold I’ve picked up, but Mac and James on sound are giving me a boost!

Darren had a mate in- Peter Fairchild. Peter was at the Swansea Grand Theatre back in the day with Freddie Lees, and my Brother Vivyan. He has worked at Theatres all over the UK, it was lovely to meet up with him!

The electrics on the Royal Rolls stuck for a few seconds today as Andy and I were about to set off on our long ten yard journey on to the stage. For a moment I wondered whether to get out and walk, or get a push! At the very last second as the fanfare ended the power came on, and we slid swiftly into place- me hanging on to my three foot wig as we came to a stop! It’s a lovely entrance. Hope I get it every year- even if I’m Jack’s poor Mother in the village! Sell a few more cows, but keep the Rolls Royce!

After the second show time for a quick shower, and head for our end of run party! By seven-thirty tomorrow the magic will have ended, and all the costumes, props and my lovely Rolls Royce will be crated away for the journey up the Beverley and the big Qdos store.

My costumes will be winging their way down South early, as I start Panto Number Two on the 12th January! I think I might have about six changes of costume at Brick Lane, so I can get those sorted over the next ten days or so- fitting in a visit to “Robinson Crusoe” at The Mayflower Southampton on Tuesday.

I’ll be heading home Monday morning, and John will be heading for the cruise liner- he will be sailing to Lisbon for a show- no rest for Muddles- he’s already packed for the ship and we’ve still got two shows left!

Our party was held in one of the function rooms, hosted by Sarah the Theatre Manager, and with Dave (Young) as DJ. Lovely not only for all our company to be together, but also our chance to say hello once again to the cast of Theatre Colwyn’s “Dick Whittington”, and to say Hi to Stuart and Jayne Loughland – Safire!

A great night- thank you Sarah and everybody who organised it! We adjourned to the cosy Can Y Bae afterwards and had a drink before everyone went off to their digs- thoughts of packing on their minds and memories of a really happy season here.
