Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip is aired on BBC2 at 7pm tomorrow (Thursday 18th September). Mark Stacey and Chris Biggins visited me this Summer at the Kenneth More Theatre to take a “Side Trip” into the world of Panto. I brought along a few odd items from the IBY Archive, and a very jolly day was had by all!

Lesley and Chris toured around trying to out do each other in buying antiques while having a giggle from beginning to end! Since filming this I’ve costumed a panto- “Dick Whittington” which is mostly wrapped and labelled now, and Andrew Ryan, Will Jeffs and I are rehearsing ready to set off on our own “Road Trip”- the Annual “Pantomime Roadshow” which will be visiting schools in East London and Redbridge over the next two weeks.

Today we’ve rehearsed the Roadshow- Will joins us for the “London Leg”, and will be followed by Alan Magor for the rest of the tour- Southampton, Llandudno, Glasgow, and Bradford weeks, with a welcomed return of Nathan Daniel for our Wolverhampton Week! A lot of shows ahead, a lot of travelling, but in the words of Cilla, A Lorra, Lorra Laughs!

I had a few panto folk to fit costumes on today for Panto, and in between managed to get a few hours of rehearsal in next door with Andrew & Will, and taking a look at the great job Grant Alvarez has been doing with our set.

A row of footlights ready for the van. You can never have too many folding footlights I say!

We put part of the set up, including our newly created and purchased pieces, and worked with the props and the sound equipment (Huge thanks to Qdos for sorting out the sound and transporting it) to get the show up and running ready for the first show on Monday. Here’s a few oddities from the rehearsal room:

Incredible to think this all packs neatly away into the van in about five minutes- but then, we have been doing it for a fair few years!

and of course, the one thing the Pantomime Roadshow could not possibly do without! The essential prop!

Yes- apparently the World’s Largest! We’d expect nothing less from the tour! So- here’s looking forward to a fortnight in East London thanks to the Kenneth More Theatre, followed by a week for the Mayflower Southampton, Venue Cymru Llandudno, Glasgow’s SECC, The Alhambra Bradford and the Grand in Wolverhampton! Looking forward to seeing all these theatres very soon!
