Friday 2nd December

January 3, 2015

4th December 2014 Aladdin, Hull New Theatre Time is now flying. The atmosphere backstage is one of relief at having nearly finished the run, and a tinge of sadness that it is nearly over. For me it is now packing-up time! Today I spent a couple of hours packing away everything I don’t need or use, in preparation for the “big” pack that takes places during the last show. As usual I hope that everything will be packed and ready to go on the truck by curtain down! 4th December 2014 Aladdin, Hull New Theatre 4th December 2014 Aladdin, Hull New Theatre The dressing room is looking pretty bare as the contents are now in the skips ready to go upstairs to the Quick Change room, and a very nice lady, Diane, will be packing as we go on the final afternoon show on Sunday. Today (Friday) we were joined on stage by Lauren from Hull’s Viking FM Radio Station.

Her stage debut was as Widow Twankey’s laundry assistant, and we had a bit of (rehearsed!) banter on stage during my opening routine, again in the laundry, and Lauren took part in the finale as well. The girl “done well”, and I was reminded of Twenty Five years ago when our Fairy Godmother was local Viking Radio’s Cheryl Wilkinson.007 006

It’s all a big circle as Marion and Alan backstage would agree! After the second show- and all my packing in between- a few of us headed off to the Marina for a bite to eat- our last but one meal together before the parting of the ways. 001 Two shows tomorrow. I am very excited about seeing my friend and ex panto mate Suzanne Kaye, who is coming over to see the show and catch up after far too long. We did a glorious Terry Parsons “Mother Goose” way back at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre, all glitter and gorgeous feathers- and it was Miss Kaye who gave me my mascot “Honey Bear” who I’ve hung on dressing room mirrors for over 35 years!
