Dec 24th: Christmas Eve

December 25, 2015

After show at the Palladium Theatre, now Wetherspoons.

Pictures by Paul Sampson.

Busy atmosphere backstage between shows. Panto folk are packing and sorting out last minute arrangements for travel- to Liverpool, London, Windsor and Surrey- to Wigan and all points North, West South and East!

Pictures courtesy of Paul Sampson,

The audiences were superb. Really game for a laugh and made the shows fly past. Big reactions. After the first show we met some of the Blind Veterans and staff in the auditorium. Keen radio listeners, two of them reminded me how dreadful I was in that BBCRadio quiz last week. Robin is still wincing about his appearance on “Pointless” today, so I don’t feel too bad!

Between shows we had the Babes Party Part One. One group of the Pearl Shaw “Babes” hosted a party in their rooms, and the second one will be on Boxing Day. Great fun, and the Juves did their “Secret Santa” as well. Great party food, and a lovely time to spend this Christmas Eve with some very excited kids!

Kids party over, it was the last show of the day, and as soon as the curtain fell, artistes were scrabbling for the exits!

Those of us remaining here in Llandudno met up at the Albert, where Rooney and CJ were in evidence- here’s biscuit time!

We saw Christmas in at the Wetherspoons “Palladium”, a former variety theatre, and then I strolled along the windy promenade for a glorious day in the hotel day that is Christmas! Sadly we heard that Emma’s hire car blew a tyre near Chester, and her journey was delayed awaiting the AA/RAC, and hope it wasnt too long before rescue arrived. Robin had a lift with John to Liverpool where he sent pics showing a good time was being had uponj arrival!

I opened my emails upon return- there’s the script for the next panto.. Brick Lane Music Hall’s “Jack”, in which I will be making a departure from Dame this season to give my Poison Ivy, a Wicked Fairy with a nice line in flashy frocks! We start rehearsing on January 12th and run through into March. No rest for the Wicked!  (Exit cackling).

Here’s a great picture of Andrew Ryan and Julian Clary in the Birmingham Hippodrome “Aladdin”- look forward to seeing this on January 2nd.

Have no fear, Snow White! Normal service will be resumed on Boxing Day!

Happy Christmas Everyone!!
