Wednesday 27th January Lunches!

January 28, 2016

As you can see, a pretty crowded Dressing room 2 of a lunchtime. Missing from this photo are Musicians Kate & Andy, Rusty and Vincent along with Rhys and Zara!

Two shows this week so far, both of them lunchtime Pantomimes. We arrive around 1.30pm for the Lunchtime shows and the show goes up at 2.30pm after the three course lunch has been served. Both houses were full and perky!

Tuesday was a day of mixed feelings for me. It was the day of dear Brian Godfrey’s funeral. Had it been on a non working day I would have been there, reading a tribute out alongside Paul and Linda Elliott and Robin Asquith. This business isn’t one that you can easily miss a show, and the show goes on. Everyone I spoke to said Brian had a truly beautiful and funny and moving send off, and that he would have laughed a lot at the tributes. I know he would have.

John Crabtree, Brian’s mate had brought some of Brian’s Dame/Sister rings and necklaces into Marc Seymour’s dressing room at Ilford last week. He thought Brian would like to see them used. I wore one of his Dame rings at yesterday’s Brick Lane show.

Tuesday’s show was very bright and jolly. A good antidote to the vile weather outside. High winds and rain. Grey all day- not that you’d notice in our Russian Themed auditorium!

We have Friday off this week, which has fitted in perfectly for me to go to Birmingham after Thursday’s show, see some of the “Aladdin” at the Hippodrome, then join in the Qdos party with Andrew Ryan. Should be lots of panto mates there, so I must remember to take photos for this blog! I will see the show once again on the Friday evening, and then I’ll be returning Saturday lunchtime, so the blog gets updated next on Sunday!

Most of the pantos have now closed around the country- Birmingham closes on Sunday, and I believe has broken all previous Box Office Records!

Wednesday’s show had an additional number/routine put into Act Two- Andrew and Vincent doing “Climb Upon My Knee Sonny Boy”, which by the reaction we were hearing was well received. Andrew (Robley) is hosting a lunch party for the BLMH company on Friday, so I’ll be sending my apologies, I’ll be having Panto fun in Brum. A jolly day out in Essex for the company before Saturday’s Evening show.

In the meantime I will be searching the floor of the dressing room tomorrow upon arrival for the matinee. You could say I have made a boob, but in truth I’ve lost one! It’s a “Dame” thing, so don’t worry. I’m sure it will turn up. I emptied my washing bag into the machine when I got home to discover I’d mislaid it, and I’m thinking it will turn up under the costume rail. Unless Rusty is using it as a football. We’ll see! 036
