30th December-Counting down!

December 31, 2016

Damian has finished the art work on the corridor wall of the Derngate- the signitures are appearing! This heralds the end of the panto run, as we join the other names on the wall. I’d be surprised if they’ve had as much fun and pleasure as we have had working here. As I said before, we have been blessed this season

Today we said farewell to this troupe of Mayhew “Babes”- they’ve done an amazing job. As Simon said in his curtain speech, a real shining example to the school and to their discipline throughout. Amazing job girls! Well done!

backstage all is in readiness for the trucks- the first one arrived tonight. Tomorrow will be a partial get out- and the main part will be after the Bank Holiday, on Monday.

As the show progresses tomorrow evening the props and costumes will be packed. My two skips and rail will be packed, and by 7pm I’ll be all done and dusted, and heading for the 7.35pm train to Birmingham! It really is THAT fast!

Dressing rooms are virtually as they were on the day we moved in, and tonight we had a swift drink which is our final goodbyes to cast and crew- we will all be racing by 7pm tomorrow.

This isnt the end of the Derngate Dame’s Diary however= Oh No! Please watch this space for not only our final night report, but for a set of pictures of the show to bid farewell to a great pantomime run. There will be a good selection of photographs to enjoy once we’ve all fled into the fog and frost, and I will be putting them on over the Bank Holiday as I see Birmingham and Manchester and Ilford Pantomimes over the next week. So please keep visiting for updates to this Diary for the next week for some great pictures.

Tomorrow is our final day in Derngate Pantoland!
