Maryann Trigg’s Costumes

February 4, 2013

Chris Hayward, that most glamorous of Pantomime Dames, and I were in Birmingham recently, wandering around the fabric shops browsing and looking for ideas for next year’s extravaganzas in the world of Panto costumes. This season Chris was a wealthy Empress Of China, and next year he is going to be at the foot of his beanstalk, and I somehow don’t think he’ll be wearing a cotton print costume!

I got a glimpse of some of the costumes that Maryann Trigg has made for the Theatre Royal Newcastle this year, and thought you might like to admire her work for yourselves through her daughter’s blog.

Maryann has been making costumes for many years and supplies several dames around the UK and especially in the North West- My lovely “Twankey” opening, and “Jack & The Beanstalk” opening costumes are from her studio, based on designs by Chris Hayward. Chris makes a great many of his costumes and headdresses, and is current off to the mysterious East in search of more feathers and bugle beads to bring even more magic to the world of Pantomime for 2013/14.

Here are just a few of the costumes Maryann made for him this season.
